NDLEA intercepts 185.81kg of Cannabis at Seme Border
The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) , Seme Border Area Command intercepted 185.81kg Indian hemp allegedly imported into the country between July and September.
Area Commander of NDLEA at Seme, Nicholars Ajaduruonye explained that the drugs wrapped in 295 parcels by travelers, who allegedly imported them from Ghana, were intercepted at the border post by the officials of the agency.
“NDLEA operatives at Seme border post have intercepted a total of 185.81kg of Cannabis Sativa also known as Indian hemp between the months of July and Sept. this year,” he said.
The area commander disclosed that 24.414kg (28 parcels) was intercepted in July while 26.2kg (25 parcels) and 147.5kg (28 parcels) were seized in August and September respectively.
He, however, said 21 suspects were arrested during the period under review in connection with the importation of the drugs.
Ajaduruonye said five out of the 21 suspects have been convicted.
