MOHAMMED ABUBAKAR ACTING INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE



The Man, MD Abubakar.

The new Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, FCE mni, has resumed duty.

Abubakar was born 5 May, I960, in Gusau Town, Zamfara State.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force on 1 August, 1979, as Cadet I Inspector. He had served in many capacities in the force as Assistant Commissioner of Police Criminal Investigative Department, CID, Sokoto Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police Federal Operations Force Headquarters, Lagos State, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Airport Police Command (MMIA) Lagos.

He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Police Command Lagos and Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration, Lagos State Police Command, second in command to Sir Mike Okiro, when he was the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.

Abubakar, had as well served in high capacities as the commissioner of police in Plateau, Abia, Kwara and Kano state police commands.

He was a commissioner of police in charge of Airport Police Command, Lagos.

He became the Lagos State Commissioner and resumed duty on Friday, 6 July, 2OO7.

Thereafter, he was promoted as the Assistant-Inspector General of Police, AIG, and posted to take charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, and then to Zone 6, Calabar; and Bauchi, Zone 12 respectively as AIG..

Abubakar is a member of the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and had also undergone several professional training locally and internationally.

These among others are intermediate command course, Jos, General Detective Course, Metropolitan Police West Hindon, England, General Security Course in Israel, General Security Course FBI, USA, International Security Course, England and General Detective Course, Scotland Yard.

He is a professional member of International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Economics (FCE), a lover of sports and once a member of Badminton Federation Of Nigeria, and chairman, security committee of Nigeria 2009. He is married and has children.
