Court sentences pickpocket to 2 months imprisonment.

An Apapa Chief Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a pickpocket to two months imprisonment without an option of fine.

The convict, Paul Ndubuisi who was arraigned same day, was immediately sentenced after he pleaded guilty to the one-count charge.

Sergent Benedict Unawunwa , the prosecutor, told the court that Ndubuisi had on June 18 in Ajegunle, a Lagos suburb, attacked Ramoni Murtala with a sharp object after an unsuccessful attempt to dispossess him of his purse.

According to the prosecutor, Murtala is still receiving treatment for the wounds Ndubuisi inflicted on him.

Unawunwa said the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

In her judgment, the Chief Magistrate,Oluyemisi Adelaja declared that the accused was guilty as charged.
