Fasheun, OPC leader, roots for meeting of ethnic groups.
The Leader, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Frederick Fasheun, has urged the Federal Government to convey a meeting of all ethnic groups in the country in order to have lasting peace.
Fasheun, who spoke in Lagos, advised Nigerians to embrace social justice, so as to achieve absolute peace in the country.
He was reacting to the fresh attack in Kaduna by the Boko Haram sect on Easter Sunday in which many people were killed.
The only way out of these serial bombings is for the government to adopt identical methods to discuss with people and also strive hard to institutionalise social justice.
Fasheun described the peace in the country at the moment as ``grave yard peace, adding that this was not true peace.
He, however, said the only way to re-order the nation for social justice to prevail was to convene a Sovereign National Conference (SNC).
National Chairman, Movement for the Restoration and Defence of Democracy, Danjuma Mohammed said suicide bombing was not restricted to Nigeria, noting that the problem was politically motivated.
The National Chairman of the African Renaissance Party, Yahaya Ndu, urged the Federal Government to call the SNC in order to have a lasting solution.
Ndu suggested that the period between now and Oct. 1 should be used for planning and publicity, adding that the conference should begin from the ward and community levels.
