Gunmen, suicide bomber attack churches in Jos and Borno



Unknown Gunmen opened fire on a church in Biu Town, Borno state on Sunday morning, spraying the congregation with bullets and wounding many of them.

About the same time, a suicide bomber blew himself up, outside the Christ’s Chosen Churcu in Rukuba, Jos, Plateau state.

“Three gunmen came to the premises of the church and started firing at people outside the church before going into the main building to carry on their killings Many people have been killed and wounded,” said witness Hamidu Wakawa, who was at the church in Biu Town, Borno state.

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ayeni, has confirmed the explosion in Jos, but he says the casualty figure is yet to be ascertained. Also youths in Rukuba, Jos, have blocked routes leading to the church, thus preventing journalists from covering the incident.
