Ihejirika tasks taskforce on counter terrorism to abide by rules of engagement.

The  Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Onyeabor Ihejirika, has tasked the Special Task Force on Counter Terrorism to abide by the rules of engagement in tackling terrorism in the country.

Ihejirika gave the charge at the graduation ceremony of 214 batches 4/12 of Basic Counter Terrorism Course in Kachia, Kaduna State.

The course was organised for personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Army.

Represented by the Commander, Nigerian Corps of Artillery, Major-General Amon Kwaskebe, Ihejirika urged the graduates to exercise professionalism in discharging their duties.

Director, Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Centre, Brigadier-General Tijani Golau, said participants were trained in tactical combat shooting, fighting in build up area, weapon handling and unarmed combat.

Golau said all the participants completed the four weeks course and had met the standards required of special trained force.

He said six officers and 148 men from the Nigerian Army, seven officers and 53 personnel of the NSCDC graduated from the four weeks course.

NSCDC Commandant-General, Ade Abolurin thanked the Nigerian Army for empowering the personnel to address security challenge in and outside the country.

Represented by the NSCDC zone ``B’’ Zonal Commander, Bartholomew Ezegbo, Abolurin said the training was a continuous exercise.

He commended the synergy between the corps and other security agencies in fighting crime.
