Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim




IG orders 24-hour patrol, surveillance of crisis prone areas.



The Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, has ordered a 24-hour police patrol and surveillance of all vulnerable crises points nationwide to ensure a hitch-free yuletide.
Ringim also directed Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and State Commissioners of Police (CPs) to deploy adequate personnel to identified criminal hideouts and black spots during the period to check criminal activities.
He assured of adequate security during the period, saying that it was the responsibility of the police to guarantee safety of lives and property, especially now that people were moving from one part of the country to the other,’’ the statement said.
Ringim however, charged personnel of the force to always respect the rights of the citizens, adding that they should be civil in the efforts to meet their security needs.
Ringim urged Christians to open their hearts to the ``issues of peace, forgiveness and harmonious co-existence as exemplified by the teachings of Jesus as they celebrate his birthday.
He also called on Nigerians to respect and recognise the diversities of the nation and see them as a means for progress and development.

Ebonyi Police to ensure crime free Christmas celebration
The Ebonyi Police Command is to beef up security in every part of the State to ensure a crime free Christmas and New year celebrations.
Its Commissioner, Adeola Adeniji said the police would increase its patrol in the state.
“We have concluded plans to police all the strategic points in the state and to improve foot patrol in the major streets of Abakaliki.
“The Police in Ebonyi will continue to sustain the low crime rate in the state and ensure the security of lives and properties.”
Adeniji, therefore, solicited for the cooperation and support of the public to fight crime in the state.
The police commissioner urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards on the consequences of violating the laws during the celebrations.
He advised members of the public to be security conscious and to volunteer useful information to the police for effective policing.
“Anyone with vital information on criminal activities or misconduct of officers and men of the command should report to my office for prompt action,” he said.

Police give reasons for cordoning Adamawa assembly complex.
Adamawa Police Command has given reason for the continuous presence of armed police men at the Adamawa Assembly complex since the change of leadership at the assembly two weeks ago.
The command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Altine Daniel, said the police action was to protect lives and property following security reports that the place would be attacked.
“Police action was not an attempt to interfere with the activities of the lawmakers as being speculated.
Altine also commented on the commencement of governorship campaign tour by political parties in the state, saying that the police had asked for the campaign itenary of all the political parties involved to ensure adequate security for all of them.
She tasked all the political parties to play according to the rules for a hitch free campaign and election.
The Adamawa governorship election is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2012 with the ACN, ANPP, ADC, CPC and PDP fielding candidates.
