FRSC CORP MARSHALL OSITA CHIDOKA

Yuletide patrol: FRSC arrests 600 traffic offenders

THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has arrested and arraigned before mobile courts about 600 traffic offenders for contravening various traffic-related rules and regulations.

The FRSC Corps Marshal and Chief Executive, Osita Chidoka, made this known at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, before embarking on a joint aerial surveillance with the Nigerian Police and the Air Force.

Chidoka said the arrests were made during the ongoing Christmas and New Year special patrol, as part of the corps’ renewed determination to inject order and sanity in the nation’s highways, especially during the Yuletide.

The corps added that the prosecution of the offenders, who were arraigned before mobile courts established at strategic patrol locations, formed part of the corps’ numerous initiatives to ensure hitch-free movement of traffic and safer road conduct during the festive season.

According to him, the aerial surveillance provided a proactive platform for the corps to be acquainted with traffic situations across the country in order to re-strategise on its deployment plan of personnel and logistics on routes with traffic challenges.

He added that certain corridors had experienced slight hitches in traffic flow such as Abuja- Lokoja, Lagos-Ibadan-Ore, Asaba-Onitsha, Obollo –Affor- 9th Mile and the Enugu- Okigwe- Port Harcourt highways.
