Dr. Ona Ekhomu

EKHOMU CONDEMNS KILLING OF FOREIGN HOSTAGES.

More condemnation have continued to greet the killing of two foreign hostages in Sokoto by Boko Haram fighters.

The latest of such condemnation is coming from an Internationally recognised Security Expert, Dr. Ona Ekhomu who described it as sad, despicable and unfortunate.

Dr. Ekhomu described the execution of the foreign engineers as a terrorist act that was capable of triggering a diplomatic row among Nigeria, Britain and Italy.

Dr. Ekhomu, who is President of the Association of Industrial Security and Safety Operators of Nigeria said the rescue effort did not fail for lack of diligence and brilliance but because the fate of the hostages was sealed by Boko Haram commanders who ordered their execution once security forces stormed the hideout.

According to him, the killing further underscored the fatalism and cruelty that epitomized Bokite mentality and world-view.

Ekhomu praised the courage, professionalism and dedication of agents of the British Special Boat Service and Nigerian security that collaborated in the multinational rescue effort.

He said the wickedness and blood thirstiness of the Bokites foretold the tragic outcome of the rescue attempt.

Ekhomu advised that in future such a rescue operation should take place at night-time using night vision equipment in order to catch the terrorists off guard.

He urged Nigerians not to be deceived by the denial of responsibility by some element of Boko Haram saying the denial was a feeble attempt to deflect criticism because Europeans were killed in the abduction saga.

In his word, Boko Haram started its murderous campaign with Kalashnikovs (AK47) rifles and graduated to Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), and now added to kidnap/murder to their terrorist tool kit.

Dr. Ekhomu called for intensification of the war on terror by the Nigerian authorities and advised against negotiating with Boko Haram even as they escalate their bloody campaign.

He advised the government to engage in an implacable pursuit of the enemy (Bokite terrorists, urging the government to increase intelligence gathering through the use of reward money.

The Security Expert, also counseled an arms buy back program for the northeast zone of the country urging the government to offer N50,000.00 for each AK47 rifle turned in.

He urged Nigerians and foreigners to be security conscious in order to avoid falling victim of kidnap plots like the one that ended the lives of the two foreigners.
