EFCC rewards families of deceased staff

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, paid tributes in memory of four of its deceased officers and handed their terminal insurance benefits to their next of kin.

Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde who personally handed over the cheques of the benefits to the relations of the departed officers, expressed deep sadness over their death and assured that the EFCC will continue to do its best to ensure that they did not die in vain.

“We owe the families they left behind, our widow’s mite to help alleviate whatever hardship they may face over the loss of their loved ones. And beyond that, we owe it to their memory, and indeed, to all Nigerians, to make sure that their deaths will not be in vain”, Lamorde said.

The deceased officers are Alhassan Matthew; Nandir Daniel, Sunday Owai and Enoma Orishemola.

A total sum of N34.4 million was paid as benefits to the families of the deceased officers.

Alhassan Matthew died on June 26th, 2010; Daniel on July 27th 2010, Owai on October 2nd , 2010 and Orishemola on March 31st, 2011.

Until their death, they were all officers of the EFCC.
