Air Force parades fake soldier

A twenty-one -year-old suspect has been paraded by the Nigerian Air Force for allegedly impersonating a soldier.

The 107 Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force, Lagos which paraded the suspect (names withheld) before Newsmen said the suspect was arrested last week friday at Obalende, Lagos.

Its Commander, Group Captain Emmanuel Akinbayo said the military police of the eighty-one Division of the Nigerian Army arrested the suspect in an eatery while he was wearing a fatigue camouflage with an Air force badge.

Akinbayo said Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Navy identity cards with fake staff numbers were also recovered from the suspect.

He said the suspect claimed that he stole the uniform from his uncle in Niger State and used to evade transport fares.

He also said the suspect admitted to have stolen the identity cards from the uncle who is an Air Force personnel.

The commander said that the suspect also claimed that he was a commercial motorcyclist and used the cards to avoid extortion by social miscreants.

Akinbayo urged military personnel to watch out for those who impersonated them to perpetrate crimes.

The suspect was handed over to the Air Force Logistics Command for more interrogations.
