NDLEA BOSS

Passengers luggage delayed at MMIA

There was an uproar at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Sunday, as the NDLEA halted the loading of passengers' luggage into the conveyor belt on arrival from Brazil.
The passengers had disembarked from an Emirate aircraft to pick up their luggage when the anti-drug agency suddenly halted the conveyor belt.
The NDLEA action was prompted by information that one of the luggage on board the flight contained hard drug.
Following the delay caused by the NDLEA’s action, the passengers became agitated as tempers went high with some of them shouting for the release of their luggage.
However, after the suspected luggage was identified, the passengers were then allowed to pick up their luggage.
The source added that upon the screening of the suspected luggage, it was found to be containing hard drugs.
When contacted, the Head of Public Affairs of NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, confirmed the incident.
He said that a woman on board the flight was arrested in connection with the incident, adding that the case was under investigation.
