The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika said on Monday in Lagos that the army was set to reinstate personal and corporate discipline.
The army chief spoke at the opening ceremony of the 2011 Nigerian Army RSM Convention at the 81 Division Auditorium at the Marina in Lagos.
The theme of the convention is: ``Regimentation and Discipline: A Prerequisite for the NA Transformation to meet Contemporary Challenges.’
Ihejirika, who was represented by the Chief of Administration, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Bala Usara, said that there was an urgent need to re-establish military ethics and traditions.

He said: ``the main objective of the convention is to provide an avenue for Army Headquarters to obtain the views and opinions of RSMs on contemporary issues’’.
Ihejirika also urged that there should be no communication gap between superiors and subordinates.
Also speaking, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah, noted that the convention would provide solutions to some of the challenges facing the army.
``Regimentation and discipline, among other issues, are the foundations upon which the transformation of the army could be based,’’ he said.
