A tanker driver,Abdullahi Muhammed charged with reckless driving before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Abuja,has been granted bail in the sum of one hundred thousand naira with one surety in like sum.
The thirty-five-year old driver, who drove a tanker marked was alleged to have damaged another tanker on April one, because of reckless driving.
Prosecutor,Corporal Jeremiah Elijah, had told the court that the accused who was heading toward the city centre from the Airport Road, Abuja, veered into the opposite lane of the road, leading to the airport due to his reckless driving.
He said the accused collided with the other tanker, property of one of the construction companies in the FCT, damaged it and obstructed vehicular traffic.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.
Chief Magistrate Hadiza Dodo adjourned hearing in the case till June eight.
Also granted bail by another Magistrate’s Court was a sales clerk, one Jude Iordye, alleged to have misappropriated three hundred and ninety-eight thousand naira being the proceeds of goods entrusted to him.
Chief Magistrate Josephine Obanor granted him bail in the sum of thirty thousand with one surety in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the case till June seventeen for definite hearing.
