The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety has solicited the support of the Ministry of Transport in enacting a law to check maritime piracy and armed robbery.
It Legal Adviser,Mathew Egbadon said crimes were being committed on the sea and expressed regret that the Agency was handicapped in punishing the perpetrators due to lack of necessary legislation.

He said the timely passage of a legation would enable the Agency to prosecute or extradite criminals from other countries.
