The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has impounded seven containers laden with contraband.
It said five of the containers were laden with furniture components valued at about N25 million.
Area Comptroller,Abdulkadir Azarema, told newsmen in Lagos that the containers came in from China.
Azarema said the containers were intercepted in batches on intelligence reports between May and June.
According to him, management of the APM Terminals in Apapa received intelligence reports that the containers should be isolated on their arrival.
He said the owners of the containers could not be traced because they gave fake addresses on the shipping documents.
Azarema said two other containers carried two over-aged vehicles, towels and other clothing.
He said the dwell time for cargoes was 28 days and that once a cargo spent more than 28 days, it would be considered overtime and gazetted for auction.
The comptroller said the containers had been handed over to the Federal Operations Unit of the Customs in Ikeja due to the lack of space at the terminal where they were kept.
