A man who allegedly caused the electrocution of a minor, has appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a one-count charge of manslaughter.
Moses Babaoke, a refrigerator repairer, was accused of exposing a naked wire from a fridge connected to electricity which electrocuted his neighbour’s child.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail by Magistrate T. Abolarinwa in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Prosecutor, ASP. Jack Asuquo, told the court that the alleged occurred on June seven at Ivennagbor St., Ojodu.
Asuquo said that the accused exposed the wire in his room and went to visit a relative.
He said the minor went behind the refrigerator and picked up the naked wire and was electrocuted.
The prosecutor said the alleged offence contravened Section 325 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, and could be punished with life imprisonment.
The case has been adjourned till August 3 for further hearing.
