A 34-year-old-salesman, Oniyide Adetunji, who has been standing trial since 2006, was in Lagos, sentenced to one year in jail with an option of N200,000 fine.
An Ikeja Chief Magistrate,E. Fabamwo, who handed down the sentence, said Adetunji was guilty of stealing N1.2m from Lanre Bhadmus Industries Ltd., Lagos.
She said it is therefore, the judgment of the court that Adetunji is guilty of the offence of stealing and is sentenced to one year imprisonment with N200,000 option of fine.
Prosecutor, Sergent Benedict Unawunwa, told the court that Adetunji on September 2005 in Ikeja, Lagos, conspired with another person, now at large and deceitfully collected money from various customers.
He said Adetunji did not remit the money collected from the customers to Bhadmus Industries.
