Cafe operators urge NCC, EFCC to check use of handsets for browsing.

Cyber cafe operators on Thursday, urged the Nigerian Communications Commission and the EFCC to check the use of handsets by subscribers’ for browsing.

The operators said the inability of telecom operators to block some illegal sites because of patronage could raise crime.

An operator of Etalom cybercafe at Oyingbo in Lagos,Leo Ayi said some subscribers visit some site and carry out cyber crimes on their phones

Operator of the Nationale Computer School, Ebute-Metta, Hammed Jimoh said should the security agencies fail to check the trend, it would be difficult to contain cyber crimes.

Jimoh urged the NCC to check network operators’ activities on broadband business in the country.

Soliu Oluwanishola of Easykhiel’s International Cyber Cafe, Apapa said there was need for the Federal Government to check the activities of telecom operators in the country.

According to Oluwanishola, cyber café business is about collapsing because cyber cafes have softwares that have been put in place to block some sites, including phonographic sites.

Micheal Ezema said the only thing some subscribers had not been able to do on their phones was to register for an examination but that fraud were being perpetrated daily through phones.
