Suspected robbers kill `Okada’ rider, make away with his bike

Tragedy struck at Ikate - Surulere in Lagos when suspected armed robbers shot dead an unidentified middle-aged motorcyclist and made away with his bike.

An eyewitness said the incident occurred at the intersection of Anjorin and Cole Streets and threw people in the environment into confusion.

According to the eyewitness, the suspected armed robbers, also on a bike, double-crossed their victim pointing a gun at him.

The hoodlums ordered him to surrender the motorcycle but he resisted and then we heard gun shots which resulted in people fleeing in all directions.

The suspected hoodlums made away with the motorcycle and some amount of money from the victim, leaving the man in the pool of his own blood,’’ the source said.

The eyewitness, who craved anonymity, said that not long after the robbery, a police patrol team arrived and took away the corpse.

However, the police deputy spokesman, DSP Samuel Jinadu, when contacted to confirm the matter, said that he had not been briefed.
