Man in court over tax clearance certificate forgery.

The police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a 40-year-old man who allegedly forged the Federal Inland Revenue Service tax clearance certificate.

The accused, Moshood Adebiyi was charged before a Surulere Chief Magistrate’s Court, but he pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, Insp. Olaide Sunday, the accused conspired with others still at large to forge the certificate between 2004 and 2009 at No. 2, Adebola St,. Surulere.

Sunday said the receipt was for N117, 480.

The prosecutor said the alleged offences contravened sections 516, 467 (3) and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code of Lagos State.

Chief Magistrate Abiola Soladoye granted Adebiyi bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till Oct. 14 for further hearing.
