Woman in court for biting policeman

A 30-year-old woman was on Thursday arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for biting a policeman on the hand.

Cordelia Abubakar was arraigned on a two-count charge of assault and unlawful obstruction of a police officer from performing his duty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that Abubakar on Oct. 21 at Ilaje bus stop, Bariga, Lagos unlawfully obstructed Cpl David Elisa from performing his duty.

He said the victim was attached to Bariga Police Station.

Agoi also told the court that Abubakar also assaulted the policeman by biting his hand, thus harming him.

He said the accused committed offences which contravened Sections 355 and 356 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate, Adeola Fusika, granted the accused N20,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Nov. 15 for further hearing.
