Lagos Police Command smashes robbery gangs, nab 4

The Police said in Lagos on Tuesday that they had foiled two robbery operations and arrested four suspects.

The state command’s spokesman, Frank Mba, a Superintendent said a member of the fleeing gang was apprehended at dawn at Seriki St., Okokomaiko, a Lagos suburb.

He said the police acting on a distress call, swooped on the gang while attempting to rob some residents at a motor park in Okokomaiko.

Mba said a double-barrelled gun, a pistol, one live cartridge, and N10,000 were recovered from the suspect.

He said another three-man gang operating at Alausa near the Lagos State Government Secretariat was also arrested in the early hours of Monday.

Items recovered from them include a Honda Accord saloon car, a double-barrelled gun and five live cartridges.

Mba said the cases had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
