Police Expands Management Team To 10


Acting Inspector General of police, M.D. Abubakar has expanded the police management team, with the inclusion of AIG Intelligence, Solomon Arase.

This brings to 10 the total number of Police decision-making bodies headed by the Inspector General of Police.

This was one of the decisions taken on Thursday at the bi-monthly conference of AIGs and CPs nationwide to review strategies for combating crime.

Deputy Force spokesman, CSP Frank Mba, told Saturday Tribune that the inclusion of AIG intelligence into the management team, underscores the importance the IGP places on intelligence gathering as a focal point in fighting crime.

According to him, the place of intelligence gathering in the new order is to push on crime fighting that is hinged on intelligence gathering.

The force spokesman disclosed that for the new management team any successful strategy to combat terrorism and other violent crime must be proactive and intelligence-driven.

Mba noted that the IGP was investing his best heads and hands as well as huge resources in strengthening the intelligence arm of the police.

Towards this end, he added that within his one month of assuming office, the IGP announced his plan to establish police intelligence school in Ilorin, Kwara State which is almost completed.
