Sanity will return to Kano, new zonal AIG assures.

THE new Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone I in Kano, Philemon Ibrahim Leha has expressed dismay over the prevailing security challenges in Kano.
Addressing reporters in Kano on his arrival to resume duties as the Zone 1 Police boss, Leha said the ongoing security challenges in the state cannot be tackled by the Police alone, but one which require collective efforts from both the public and other stakeholders to solve.
He promised to deploy the scarce resources at the disposal of the zone to tackle the incessant security challenges posed by the activities of Islamist sect, Boko Haram.
He said I have come here to see what I can do to facilitate the return of normalcy in Kano.

Police rescue one-year-old
The police in Rivers State have rescued a one year  two months old todler who was kidnapped at Rumuokoro area of Port Harcourt. 
The todler identified as Delight, was kidnapped from  his parents’ house  on May 25, 2012.
The suspected  kidnapper had demanded the sum of N600,000 ransom from  his  parents.
It was when he went  to cash the N600,000 check issued to him by the child’s parents at Access Brank, Rumuokoro branch, that he was arrested by the police.
During interrogation, the suspect took policemen to their hideout at Rumuokurushi  area of Port Harcourt where the kidnapped child was kept.
A few minutes after the baby was rescued, the suspect was shot dead by the police.  Justifying the killing of the suspect, the Rivers State police spokesman, Ben Ugwuegbulam said he attempted to escape justice.
According to him, the suspect  jumped through the window and took to his heels. 
He said when it became clear that the policemen would not arrest him, they shot him.
He further  explained  that the suspect died before he could be taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Command’s spokesman said a female member of the kidnap gang, one Virginia  was also arrested and a Nokia handset  belonging to the mother of the victim  recovered from her.
He said the child had been handed over to the jubilant parents, while investigation into the matter is still going on.
