KAI PROSECUTES SANITATION OFFENDERS

The Environmental Sanitation Control Agency of Lagos State Kick Against Indiscipline has prosecuted two thousand eight hundred and thirty-one persons for various environmental offences in the state last year.

One thousand nine hundred and ninety-two of the Persons were fined various sums during the period.

Commissioner for the Environment, Muiz Banire said six hundred and eighty-four of the offenders were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms ranging from three weeks to six months.

According to him, the mobile court set up to try environmental sanitation offenders discharged ninety-eight arrested persons for lack of evidence and for being under aged.

He said those arrested and prosecuted constituted environmental nuisances to the public.

The Commissioner said the Agency said made several visits to various places within forty-one Local Government and Local Council Development Areas to enforce and effect environmental compliance by residents.
