Police Commission Promotes Two to AIG, punishes Sixteen.

Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of two Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and reprimanded sixteen officers for different offences.

The commission at its fifteenth plenary meeting, approved the promotion of Mohammed Zarewa and Ibrahim Paiko to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

Its Information Officer,Ferdinand Ekpe said the commission also dismissed five Assistant Superintendent of Police for acts that were considered to be inimical to police discipline, while two of them were recommended for prosecution, due to the nature of their offences.

Ekpe said it similarly approved the compulsory retirement of an Assistant Superintendent of Police while sixteen other officers were reprimanded for disciplinary offences.

The Commission is vested with the powers to recommend promotions, disciplinary actions and regulate activities of the Nigerian Police Force.
