FG reiterates commitment to protect lives, property.

The Minister of Information and Communications, Labaran Maku, has reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve to protect the citizens’ lives and property.

The Minister gave the assurance that the government would always strive to guarantee the safety of lives and property of the people.

Maku said Federal Government was saddened by Friday’s bomb explosions at the Magadishu Cantonment in Abuja, in which four persons died, while 14 others were injured.

He stressed the government would ensure that those responsible for these unprovoked attacks on innocent Nigerians will not go unpunished.

Maku gave the assurance that the government would not rush to pass judgment or comment on the incident until after all investigations on it had been concluded.

Neither the President nor any member of the government has pointed a finger at any particular group or organisation as being responsible for these tragic attacks,’’ he said.

The minister said that the security agencies were doing everything possible to unmask the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

While commending the local and foreign media for the positive manner in which they were reporting the incident, Maku, nonetheless, urged them cross-check their facts before publishing their reports.

He said this was necessary to avoid the tendency of inflaming passions that could cause further confusion in the polity.
