Police arrested 35,000 criminals nationwide in 2010’

The crime prevention efforts of the police has started to pay off, as over 35,000 criminals were arrested and charged to various courts across the country in 2010.


The Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, who disclosed this in his New Year message to officers and men of the force, saluted the courage with which the officers and men confronted the challenges of heinous crime in 2010.


According to him, the task of protecting life and property, especially with the attendant recurring Boko Haram crises and the kidnap menace in the country, was commendable, saying that the police tried their best within available logistics.


He charged the officers and men of the police to be prepared and determined for the success of the forthcoming general election, adding that the task of ensuring a violence-free elections must be given all the seriousness it deserved.


The IGP noted that in the New Year, “all policemen must remain focused, exhibit sterling qualities and professionalism in the conduct of their duties, especially in respect of the forthcoming general election,” adding that their hardwork and bravery would be handsomely rewarded.
