RTEAN Leader Arrested.
Detectives at the SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a commuter bus driver, Sunday Taye Godswill, have arrested a chieftain of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, Ibrahim Adesanya, a.k.a. Elebiju, over the incident.
The wife of the late Godswill had petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Yakubu Alkali to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.
Adesanya who is the boss of the deceased and RTEAN chairman at Igbogbo and Adeniji Adele motor parks, Ikorodu was allegedly arrested by the police when he carried the corpse of the deceased to the police station, claiming that he was killed by armed robbers.
The family of the deceased claimed their son was tortured to death by Elebiju over N30,000.
Narrating the circumstances surrounding her husband’s death at her 21, Ereke Street, Igbode Remo, Ogun State residence, the two-month old pregnant wife of the deceased, Mrs. Ebere Sunday, appealed to the police to do justice in the matter.
She disclosed that the RTEAN boss later invited her husband to settle the disagreement between them.
She disclosed that when she got to the Ikeja General Hospital where his corpse was deposited, she discovered lacerations all over his body and signs that he was tied on the legs and hands before he was shot at close range at the back.
