Shooting of Abacha: Police intensify manhunt.

Officers of the Kano State Police Command have intensified the manhunt for the four suspected armed robbers, who attacked the house of Hajiya Zainab Abacha, daughter of the late Head of State, Sani Abacha.
This is coming as Mohammed, surviving eldest son of Abacha, expressed appreciation for the public concern over the incident.
The robbers had attacked Zainab in her house on Tuesday night in Tsamiyar Boka, Hotoro in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, Umar Al-Awwal, an assistant superintendent of police, said investigation was still on and promised that security agents would soon catch up with the fleeing robbers.
He said one of the hoodlums, who was arrested, was currently on admission in a hospital.
He said, "It was an unfortunate incident. It is sad that the robbers shot one of the sons of the late Head of State, Al- Mustapha, close to his thigh.
"But for the robber, he is in our custody in a hospital also receiving treatment. Our officers, who responded promptly to the distress call, shot him, but we don’t want to expose the hospital so as not to hamper our investigation.
"But as soon as he recovers slightly, we would require him to give us a lead that would help us arrest his fleeing colleagues. This is why we don’t want to reveal the hospital he is held."
Meanwhile, Mohammed, who was a governorship aspirant in the Congress for Progressive Change during the April 2011 general elections, has commended the people of the state for showing concern about the incident.
Though he refused to elaborate when a call was put across to him, he, however, thanked all those who rallied round the family during and after the robbery attack.
