Army chief urges intensified soldiers’ educationDateline: Lagos

The Chief of Army staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, on Friday charged the Nigerian Army College of Logistics to intensify the education of soldiers on their roles in the present dispensation.
Ihejirika gave the charge at the fifth graduation ceremony of the college in Lagos.
The college graduated students of Logistics Staff Course 8/2011.
Ihejirika was represented by the Chief of Policy and Planning of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Ola Akinyemi.
He said that the army must continue to carry out its roles as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.
``The Nigerian Army must continue to ensure that democratic tenets are fully obeyed by all officers and men under the various commands.
``This calls for total loyalty and subordination to civil authorities,’’ the army chief said.
The Commandant of the College of Logistics, Maj.-Gen. Thompson Oliomogbe, said that logistics training equipped military personnel with the relevant skills needed to discharge their duties.
The commandant urged that the college’s teachers be sponsored for overseas training as part of capacity building.
22 officers, who commenced training on Jan. 7, graduated at the ceremony.
They comprised 20 army personnel, a naval officer and a civilian from the Ministry of Defence.
