Task Force arrests 6 over illegal tapping of public water.
The Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences on Tuesday has arrested six people for illegally tapping water from pipelines belonging to the Lagos State Water Corporation.
The Task Force Chairman, Bayo Suleiman, told newsmen in Ikeja that the culprits, who were arrested around Mile 12, would soon be charged to court.
Sulaiman said before their arrest, the suspects had illegally tapped public water for their private businesses such as car wash and the production of sachet water and perfume.
The six were arrested during our tour of pipelines in the state. The first area visited was Ajelogo where we discovered that these six persons were using the government facility for their private businesses,’’ he said.
Suleiman said the clampdown was the beginning of the task force’s clampdown on people who illegally tapped public water.
He warned those engaged in the act to desist as government would not condone any act of sabotage.
