Police arrest 447 okada riders, impound 607 motorcycles.
About 447 commercial motorcycle operators popularly called Okada riders have been arrested and 607 motorcycles impounded by the Lagos State Police Command for violating the state’s security law.
Police Commissioner, Yakub Alikali, said this after the weekly state security meeting in Governor’s Office, Alausa.
Alikali said the police are determined to combat crime in the state to ensure conducive and peaceful environment for Lagosians as the “ember months” approach, adding that the security apparatus in the state would not relent until the citizens are satisfied with security situation in the state.
“The mandate is to provide smooth governance for the citizens in the state and to provide more conducive environment for the people.
He added that the force is resolute at taking the state to the next level in terms of security as he appealed to the public and the media to help with information that will assist them.
