PROTESTERS

Calm Returns to Lagos after a Day of Rage.

Calm has returned to the city of Lagos following yesterday's protest by civil rights activists kicking against the implementation of the order removing the subsidy on the premium motor spirit or petrol.
Four days into the implementation of the order, residents and motorists in Lagos appear to have reconciled themselves to the reality of the new policy.
Though not all the filling stations are open for business, our reporters monitoring the situation across the metropolis say motorists are driving into the filling stations which are open for business and buying petrol at the new prices ranging from N140 to N165 per litre..
Major roads where protesters made burn fires yesterday are free. But vehicular traffic still remains light.
Those who spoke to channels television are still upset with the federal government’s decision which they described as a rude shock.
A visit to the Nigeria Labour Congress office in Yaba revealed less activity as the officials were said to be attending a meeting with other unions to determine the next action to take.
There has also been a free flow of traffic on major roads in the state.
