Jonathan sacks Waziri as EFCC Chairman
President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday relieved Farida Waziri of her position as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, in Abuja, said the President had approved the appointment of Ibrahim Lamorde as the Acting Chairman of the Commission.
The statement said Lamorde's appointment took immediate effect.
Waziri was appointed the EFCC Chairman by late President Umaru Yar’Adua on May 18, 2008, and confirmed by the Senate on May 27, 2008.
Lamorde was until his appointment the Director of Operations of the EFCC.
He also acted as the chairman of the commission before Waziri's appointment.
