AIG solicits more funding for Nigerian Police.

Newly deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 3, John Moronike has advocated for better funding of the Nigeria Police Force to enable it adequately face the daunting security challenges confronting the country.
Moronike stated this in an interview with journalists shortly after addressing officers and men of the Gombe state Police Command during his familiarisation visit to the Command.
The AIG who though acknowledged Federal Government’s efforts in funding the Police Force insisted that there were a lot more to be done to ensure effective Policing of the country.
He particularly faulted the situation where the Police still employ analogue methods instead of scientific ways of investigating crimes while criminalities are going digital and many countries have succeeded in dealing with the situation digitally.
According to him, the use of Close Circuit Cameras, CCC, installed in every nook and crannies of towns and cities and monitored by the Police as well as improved logistics and communication apparatus will greatly improve the security of the county.
He affirmed that security is an expensive venture but argued that development could strive only in a peaceful atmosphere and as such called on the state and Local Governments for assistance.
The AIG also identified additional collaboration between the Police and the public as pivotal to better policing added that community policing championed by the current Police leadership was intended to making policing very easy for all-and-sundry.
