Robbers Kill 2 Cops In Shootout At Oshodi.
Two policemen were killed while three others were seriously injured during a shootout between armed robbers and policemen near Akinpelu Police Station, Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos State.
The victims are: Inspector Abdullahi Ahmed, who was promoted from the rank of sergeant three days ago and Corporal Ojoda.
A yet to be identified armed robbery suspect also died during the incident.
late Inspector Abdullahi, an Ebira man from Kogi State, was a former armourer at Akinpelu Police Station before he became officer in-charge of anti-robbery squad until his death.
A police source revealed that there was a distress call yesterday that armed robbers numbering 12 were robbing a bank at Oshodi. But unknown to the policemen, the robbers had laid ambush along the road. On seeing the policemen, the robbers opened fire on them.
In the shootout, the two policemen were killed while three others were critically injured.
The corpses of the slain policemen have been deposited at the mortuary at Ikeja General Hospital while the injured ones have been admitted at a private hospital for treatment.
It was gathered that a pregnant woman was also killed by a stray bullet during the stampede that followed the shootout.
The 12 robbers who carried out the attack were said to be driving a white Mitsubishi bus and a black Prado SUV.

When contacted, Lagos State Police Commend Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Samuel Jinadu confirmed the incident.
However, Jinadu said only one policeman was shot dead during the gun duel between policemen and robbers.
