Lagos Police Command lauds vigilante groups in the state The Spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Samuel Jinadu, on Tuesday commended vigilante groups in the state for their contributions toward reducing crime in the state. Jinadu said the vigilante groups had played a key role at ensuring security in Lagos state. “The Lagos state Police Command is been working hand- in-hand with the vigilante groups and members of these vigilante groups have been of support to the Police activities.”
Jinadu stated that the vigilante groups had been carrying out patrols with police teams, and had proved effective. He explained that since members of vigilante groups were not allowed to bear arms, they have to patrol alongside armed policemen to rid Lagos State of criminals. Jinadu said vigilante groups helped in providing useful information that had helped in fighting crime in the state. The police spokesman assured Lagos residents of their security during the Yuletide as the Police had mapped out strategies to ensure crime-free celebrations. “They should continue to go about their lawful businesses and duties as adequate security have been provided everywhere to checkmate the obnoxious and nefarious activities of criminals, who may actually wantto unleash terror on innocent citizens during the Yuletide period.”
