NNPC Oil Tanker Stuffed With Fabrics Arrested.
Officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC today arrested an oil tanker belonging to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, stuffed with large number of cotton materials at Fadeyi area of Lagos State.
The tanker, with registration number Jigawa, XA 999 MGR was carrying the loads from Kano to Oshodi, Lagos State when it was arrested by the NSCDC officers.
The paramilitary personnel suspected that the vehicle was carrying something other than fuel.
The driver of the vehicle, Adamu Usman said he was paid N80,000 to convey the goods from Kano to Lagos, saying since he had no fuel to carry, he decided to help some people to convey the goods.
Public Relations Officer, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Folashade Vera-Cruz said officers of the corps were well trained to detect odour, saying the officers perceived that the odour from the tanker was not that of fuel.
She said the corps would still investigate to know the owners of the goods, saying six people had been arrested so far.
