Navy inaugurates community projects in Ijora.




The Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Western Command, Lagos, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor on Tuesday said that the Navy would continue to extend social services to the civil community.
Ogbor stated this during the inauguration of projects at Ijora-Oloye primary school, Apapa, adding that the Navy was sensitive to the needs of the civil society.
According to him, the navy is using its 55th anniversary celebration to extend a hand of fellowship to the Ijora community which had been a neighbour to the Naval Base.
The projects funded by the navy included a borehole, renovated classroom blocks, toilets, a generator, books and 50 plastic chairs.
He added that the action was a demonstration of the ongoing civil-military relationship drive in all the arms of the military.
Also, the Ojora of Ijoraland, Oba Fatai Aromire said that the gesture of the navy was a demonstration of military concern and unity for the civil populace.
The Chairman, Apapa Local Government Area, Joseph Ayodeji commended the efforts of the Nigerian navy in identifying with the needs of the civilians in the local community.
The Nigerian Navy commenced a week-long commemoration of its 55th anniversary on May 24.
