Daily Times acquisition: Court adjourns hearing till May 26
A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday adjourned further hearing till May 26 in the case filed against the owner of Daily Times Plc, Fidelis Anosike, over a N3 billion fraud.
The Attorney General of Federation had filed criminal charges against Anosike, his brother, Noel, their company, Folio Communications Ltd, Nicholas Okoye and Gogo Kurubo.
They are standing trial on a 21-count charge of conspiracy and stealing of N3 billion worth of properties belonging to Daily Times Plc.
Anosike had in 2004 won the bid for the purchase of the newspaper company from the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE).
Owners of the company had since been embroiled in a lingering crisis since its acquisition.

But at the resumed hearing of the case on Tuesday, counsel to the accused, Mr Jude Ihiedu told the court that they had entered an appeal against a court ruling.
He said a date had been entered in the Appeal Court against the ruling of a lower court asking the accused to appear before it.

The prosecution counsel, Akin Akintewe confirmed that he had not been served with the appeal processes and asked for an adjournment to enable him to collect it.
After listening to the arguments, Justice Pat Ajoku adjourned the case till May 26 for further hearing.
