Estranged wife consents to divorce, says ‘’I do not love him anymore.

A respondent in a divorce suit Mrs Rosaline Johnson on Monday consented to the dissolution of her 24-year-old marriage before a Grade “A” Customary Court, Mushin.
Rosaline, a trader, pleaded with the court to grant her husband Agboola Johnson his prayer to dissolve their marriage.
She told the court that they had been living separately since 2011 when she packed out their matrimonial home after a serious misunderstanding.
She accused her husband of beating her and disgracing her in public.
Johnson and his counsel were not in court.
However, the elder sister to the petitioner, Arinola Johnson, told the court that her brother was seriously sick.
The Court President, Abayomi Ipaye, said he would like to cross examine both parties before the giving judgment in the case.
Ipaye adjourned the case till June 1, for further hearing.

4 bank officials charged with stealing customer's N7.5m worth of valuables.

A prosecution witness, Regina Aina, on Monday at the Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, alleged that her valuables, worth N7.5 million, were stolen by some officials of the First Bank of Nigeria.
Aina testified against four officials of the bank on a case of conspiracy, stealing and failure to prevent the commissioning of felony before Magistrate Helen Omisore.
The accused bank officials are Akindele Olayemi, 43, and Chioma Osakwe, 40, both managers, Pius Aiyejuni, 40 and Samson Olayioye, 39, who are security personnel in the bank.
They were first arraigned on April 19 on a three-count charge and for which they had pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate had also granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
At the resumed trial, Aina told the court that she had gone to the Onipanu branch of the bank for some transactions when the incident happened.
She alleged that one of the suspects (Olayioye) told her to put her handbag in a security box, marked ``16’’, at the bank’s entrance.
She said she was shocked to discover later that her handbag had disappeared from the box.
Aina said at this stage, one of the managers, (Osakwe) approached her and almost immediately, another man came to open the box with the key marked number ``18’’.
She said her husband later joined her at the bank and they both went to the Onipanu Police Station to report the incident.
Aina further disclosed that two policemen went back with her to the bank to confirm that key number ``18’’ could also open box ``16’’.
The witness also disclosed that after the incident, a man who identified himself as a sign writer, came to paste a sign on the boxes written Items kept at owners risk.
She said the man was arrested by the policemen.
The magistrate adjourned further trial to June 10.

Businessman granted bail over alleged N50,000 fraud.

A businessman, Chukwuma Umeaku, charged with fraudulently obtaining N50,000 cash from different people was on Monday granted bail in the sum of N100,000.
Umeaku, 26, appeared before the Somolu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining money under false pretence.
The prosecutor, Asp. Akinlabi Adegoke, said that the accused sometime in April at No. 27, Fola Agoro Road in Somolu, Lagos, obtained the money from different people, ostensibly to assist them to acquire Starcomms internet facilities.
Adegoke said the offence contravened Sections 390 and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, B.O. Osunsanmi, adjourned the case till July13 for further hearing.

Man charged with damaging water pipes.

The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned a 36-year-old man for alleged unlawful damage of water pipes valued at N750,000.
Emmanuel Udoh was charged with stealing and malicious damage before an Apapa Chief Magistrates` Court.
He, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail by Chief Magistrate E. O. Ogundare in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Sgt. John Iberedem, said the accused damaged water pipes belonging to the Apapa Local Government on April 26 at the Sifax Roundabout.
He said the alleged offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
If found guilty, the accused may be sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
The case has been adjourned till June 3 for further hearing.

2 arraigned for alleged attempted robbery.

Two persons on Monday appeared before a Somolu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for alleged attempted robbery.
Azeez Olufowobi, 28, and Stephen Ifa, 32, were arraigned before Magistrates B.O. Osunsanmi on a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted robbery.
The prosecutor, Asp. Akinlabi Adegoke, said the accused and others, now at large, on May 10 attempted to rob occupants of Bailey St., Ladi-Lak in the Bariga area of Lagos.
Adegoke said the offence contravened Sections 509 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate adjourned the case till July15 for further hearing.
