Police arraign man for alleged breach of bail condition
The police has arraigned Sanni Abdulahi at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly failing to produce a suspect, Christopher Ejikoye, whom he bailed from police custody.
The accused, 38, is standing trial on a one-count charge of failure to produce a suspect on request by the police in an alleged case of stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Haruna Ibrahim, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence on Nov. 20, 2010.
Ibrahim alleged that Abdulahi stood as surety for Ejikoye who was being investigated by the police for stealing.
The prosecutor said part of the condition for the bail was that the accused would produce the suspect any time the police needed him.
He urged the court to compel Abdulahi to explain why he did not produce the suspect on request by the police.
He said the alleged offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate,O. A Ogunbowale, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She then adjourned the case till June 23 for mention.

Chemist docked for defrauding pharmaceutical company.
A 31-year-old chemist, Tochukwu Amadi, has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding Geneith Pharmaceutical Nigeria Limited, Oshodi, of N1.4 million.
The accused, according to the charge sheet, collected pharmaceutical products from the complainant on credit and so far had not remitted the proceeds from the sale.
Amadi is standing trial on a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Felix Oleka, told the court that `` sometime in 2009 at No. 116 Enu Owa St., Idumota, Lagos, the accused fraudulently obtained pharmaceutical products, valued at N1.4 million from the complainant.
He said the alleged offence contravened Sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, O. O. Martins, granted him bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till June 29 for mention.

2 burglars docked for stealing items worth N800,000
The police in Lagos arraigned two miscreants at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing items worth over N800,000.
The accused, Moshood Ajayi, 28, Mutiu Okpashino, 26, are standing trial on three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and burglary.
The prosecutor, Insp. George Nwosu, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence on May 29, at Eleseko Village, Lekki, Lagos.
Nwosu said the two accused burgled the house of one Chinonso Nwaigwe and stole two vehicle brain boxes valued at N170,000.
He said the alleged offences contravened Sections 390(9), 411 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.
The two accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mulikat Alli-Balogun, granted them bail in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.
The case was adjourned to July14 for mention.
