Court gives landlord deadline to repair dilapidated building.

A' Grade A Customary Court in Mushin, Lagos State has threatened to seal a two-storey building over poor sanitation.

Court President,Abayomi Ipaye, gave the landlord of No. 1, Mopelola St., Mushin a Sept. 15 deadline to effect necessary repairs on the dilapidated building or have it sealed.

The landlord, had through his counsel, Adewale Olude, admitted poor hygiene in the premises,saying he was making plans to rehabilitate the building.

The Mushin Local Government Sanitation Officer,Raji Rasak, had submitted that the landlord failed to repair the building’s leaking roof and dilapidated toilets, kitchens and bathrooms.

Razak said its septic tank was filled up and that the building had cracked walls and floors.

He said the building constituted an environmental nuisance in contravention of the Lagos State Environmental Health Law.

The sanitation officer said the alleged offences were punishable under Sections 7 and 8 of the law.
