A man and his girlfriend were on Tuesday arraigned before a Surulere Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting three policemen on duty and tearing their uniforms in the process.
Femi Bakare, 39 and Tosin Oluwasogo, 28, are facing a four-count charge of alleged obstruction, assault, conspiracy and tearing of police uniforms.
The policemen allegedly assaulted are Insp. David Oloyede, Cpl. Godfrey Odeyo and Cpl. Thomson Edenabuohien.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olaide Sunday, told the court that on Aug. 24, at Sanya Junction, Surulere, Lagos, Bakare parked a Toyota Coaster bus with Reg. No. DN 851 LSR carelessly on the highway and when approached by the policemen, the accused assaulted them.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Abiola Soladoye, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till Oct. 22 for further hearing.
