An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday granted a commercial bus driver, Abiola Apena, bail in the sum of N100, 000 over an alleged manslaughter.
The accused, who is standing trial on a one count charge of manslaughter, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, O. A. Adegite also asked him for two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, DSP W. G. Wagbara told the court that the accused drove a Toyota Hiace bus with registration no. XV 929 FST dangerously and killed Mercy Phillips.
He said the girl was standing at the roadside when the vehicle hit and killed her on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja on April 30.
He said the offence contravened Section 28 of the Road Traffic Laws of Lagos State.
The case has been adjourned till Nov. 22 for further hearing.
