A 40-year-old trader, Alloysius Anochili, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly robbing another trader of compact discs (CDs) valued at N234,400.
The prosecutor, Insp. Augustine Orji, told the court that the accused in June this year conspired with others now at large and broke into a store at Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos.
According to the prosecutor, the accused stole 100 cartons of blank CDs and N30,000 from the store belonging to the complainant, Mr Marcel Arinze.
The prosecutor said the offences were punishable under sections 516 and 390 (a) of the Criminal code, Laws of Lagos state.
Anochili, who was charged for conspiracy and stealing, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In her ruling, the magistrate, C.J. Momodu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till Oct. 27, for further hearing.
