A clerk with a transport company was on Tuesday arraigned at the Surulere Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N6.2 million sales proceeds.
Thirty-three-year old John Nsikak is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing before Chief Magistrate Abiola Soladoye.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Olaide Sunday, told the court that Nsikak stole the amount from the Akwa Ibom State Transport Company, Ojuelegba Branch, Lagos between April and Sept. 13, 2010.
He said Nsikak, who worked for the company located at 107 Ojuelegba Road, Surulere, Lagos, could not account for the missing money.
Sunday said the offence contravened Sections 390(6) (9), Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The court granted the accused bail in sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Chief Magisgrate adjourned hearing in the case till Nov. 26.
If convicted, Nsikak risks seven years in prison.
