For allegedly taking the laws into his hand and damaging his tenant’s property, a 50-year-old landlord has been arraigned before a Surulere Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
The accused, Festus Opara, who was arraigned on Tuesday, was alleged to have with others at large, damaged the tenant’s property worth N15 million.
He is facing a seven-count charge, including stealing, conspiracy and causing breach of peace before Magistrate, A. Tobi.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The prosecutor, PC Samuel Ishola, told the court that the accused, with the others, on Sept. 16, at 18B Agbonyin Ave., Aguda, Surulere, Lagos broke into the premises of Flourish Land Private School.
Ishola alleged that the accused stole and damaged property worth N15 million property of one Florence Utoh.
According to him, some of the items stolen and damaged are air conditioners, doors, computers, keys, wardrobe, school tables and wall clocks all valued at N15 million and 10,000 dollars cash.
He said the offences contravened Sections 516, 249(d) 413, 390(9) and 509 Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos state.
Tobi granted the accused bail in sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourning further hearing till Nov. 17.
